My name is Dianne Bishop and I am a 62 year old, 300lb woman who suffers from Chronic Respiratory Failure. Last year I spent 5 months shuffling between hospitals with a successful attempt to stay alive. I owe a great deal of this to your organization Hunter EMS, let me give you a recent example: On March 11, 2013, I was discharged from St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown, NY on route to my home, also in Smithtown and a team of 2 men, Austin and Michael were sent to transport me.
Remember I am close to 300lbs; they were in my hospital room readying me when 2 more Hunter employees, Lianna and Kristin appeared, this really facilitated the move. Much to my complete surprise when we pulled up to my home, Valerie White, a supervisor, was waiting on my driveway. You cannot imagine my relief when I saw such assistance waiting to help me. Unless you've tried it, it is very difficult to move the obese!
I formally wish to thank Hunter EMS for their forethought, which once again made my transport effortless and quickly successful. I will always INSIST on Hunter EMS that way I will continue to have such safe journeys.
Thanks again,
Dianne Bishop

My name is Teresa Pickel; I am the Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital. I am writing to commend your staff that works with us here at the hospital. As I feel that your staff is excellent all of the time, during Hurricane Sandy, they went above and beyond to help us transport patients for CAT scan to Stony Brook University Hospital. Our CAT scan machines went down in the height of the storm. Joan Clare was exceptional, professional and courteous in working to organize the transports. She and your ambulance crews were on standby waiting for our call to transport our patients for their tests. At one point the Hunter ambulances were lined up outside the entrance to the ED to facilitate our needs. I wanted you to know that this was very much appreciated but not expected. They went above and beyond and should be recognized for their outstanding professionalism and commitment to profession. The ambulance crews were kind, polite and professional. I would like to thank each of these individuals for their commitment to helping us provide quality care to our patients.
Thank you,
Teresa Pickel, RN, BSN, CCRN

Recently, July 30th, our father, Cosmo Buonaspina, was in Good Samaritan Hospital for approximately 10 days. He was brought in with pneumonia which caused a heart attack. We decided that it would be better if we transferred him to St. Francis Hospital. This is where we met Sal and Maria.
Both of these individuals made us for the first time in weeks feel sure of our decision to move our father to St. Francis Hospital. They also took the time to comfort our father and explained every move to him so he would not be frightened. They also made him laugh and helped ease a rather difficult time for the rest of the family. They also filled us in on what to expect once we got to the other hospital. They told us that he would get the finest care. This was very consoling to us and made this transition less painful.
Once we got to St. Francis, these two wonderful young people managed to get our father to the proper people but also took the time to find us in Admissions and fill us in on what to expect now. On several occasions during our father's stay here, they took the time to come and see how he was doing. This was above and beyond their job skills.
How lucky for my father and our family to have such kind and caring people in our lives, even if it was for this short time. Again, we thank you for helping us in such a trying time. Both of these people helped us more than any nurse or doctor did during our father's illness. They are an asset to any profession. I'm glad they were the ones who came to transport our dad.
Sincerely,
The Family of Cosmo Buonaspina

On September 26, 2007, we needed your services to transport my father to his physican in Garden City. Both Tristan and Steve handled my 95-year-old father with gentleness and dignity and treated him with a great deal of respect and care.
I won't go into great detail, but I must tell you that they worked so efficiently that my anxiety about this expedition soon disappeared. From the moment we left my Dad's room, until we returned home, both Tristan and Steve stayed with my father, making sure he was comfortable and safe. They even assisted him in the doctor's office! Oh, and by the way, Dr. Ashley inquired what ambulance service they were from, because he was impressed with their conduct. Now how's that for an evaluation?
I could probably go on for a bit, but suffice it to say, that should we ever need transport services in the future, I would call your company in an instant. It is refreshing to find people who obviously enjoy that they are doing and are capable of communicating that to their clients. Steve and Tristan are gems and they should be recognized for their exceptional skills. Please let them know how very grateful we are that they arrived on our doorstep that day. You and your staff are obviously doing something right!
Thank you from my father and me ...

I would like to take this time to write about two of your employees, David and Bolivar. They picked me up from Good Samaritan Hospital on October 29th and took me to Avalon Gardens.
I have had some very bad experiences with other EMT's from different companies. I was very nervous and upset before they came. The minute they came into my room, they made me feel very comfortable. I cannot express how well these men do their job and I feel that they are a real credit to your company. They were neatly dressed and knew their job.
I would love to do something for them. Please could you give them words of praise or anything to let them know a job well done!
Thank you,
Valerie Fairbrother

On August 10th, my Mother, Dorothy Convey, was scheduled to be moved from Our Lady of Consolation to the MRI Center of Good Samaritan Hospital. When the paramedics, Jen and Betty, saw my mother, they were very concerned about the condition of her shoulder. I would like to thank them for the concern, care and compassion that they showed to my Mom. They were very professional and competent in the way that they handled her. Since my Mom's injury, we have not been pleased with much of the medical care that has been shown to her, both Jen and Betty showed that there are people who are in the medical field because they want to help others.
Their services were greatly appreciated. They deserve much recognition and praise for their help.
Sincerely,
Maureen Flynn

This is not the first time I have written a letter of appreciation to the staff of your ambulance service, having had the good fortune to have had my husband transported by your company on two previous occasions, when he was in need of the kind of professionalism your company continues to offer.
On Wednesday Evening, July 14th, my father was transferred from a Queens Hospital to St. Francis Hospital by Ben and Jermaine. It is hard to find the words with which to praise these two men for their skill at their job, as well as their compassion for my Dad and our whole family, their cheerful, confident demeanors, and their kindness. They turned a frightening situation into a much calmer one for us all. They were met with a good deal less than cooperation from the hospital staff, but they remained unruffled and polite to everyone. Ben was quick to realize that some of the information on the papers he received did not "fit the picture" of my Dad's condition, and made sure it was corrected. Jermaine helped get my father ready for the transfer with calm and gentleness.
Jermaine navigated the "bus" smoothly over the rough pavement of the LIE in a violent thunderstorm so that my father's painful back was not disturbed, and while Ben kept checking Dad's vitals, he used his wonderful sense of humor to keep us smiling and at ease in back.
They eased the entrance into St. Francis by explaining what would take place when we got there, and by helping with as much of the procedures as they could. They reassured my mother and helped to ease her stress by making her smile and laugh.
Ben even found a moment in his busy day to come and say "Hi!" to dad in his room the next day at St. Francis! Please let them know that we appreciated them so much, and pray that they may continue to help others for a long time to come.
Sincerely,

I would like to take this opportunity to commend your employees, Scott and Mark. These fine young men were responsible for bringing me home from Mercy Hospital on Friday, November 30th after experiencing a fall. At all times I was treated with the utmost respect and kindness.
I am grateful for the care and concern they gave to me and wanted to let you know what fine employees you have at Hunter EMS.
